Level 2 NVQ for Teaching Assistants

Completing 7 units will give you a Level 2 NVQ for Teaching Assistants

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) have defined a Level 2 qualification as follows:

  • Denotes competence in a significant scope of varied work activities performed in a variety of contexts.
  • Some of the activities are complex or non-routine, and there is some individual responsibility or autonomy.
  • Collaboration with others, perhaps through membership of a work group or team, may often be a requirement.

The candidate must take some responsibility for his/her actions and would report to a named person within the school (normally the class teacher).

7 unit qualification
Candidates must achieve all of the mandatory units (units 001 to 004) together with any three optional units (units 005, 006, 015, 016 and 022).
Candidates can progress from Level 2 to Level 3 if the candidates work role allows him/her to perform a task to demonstrate competence at the appropriate level.
