Learning Outcomes

Gaining an NVQ Teaching Assistants means you meet the national occupational standards for Level 2 or Level 3.

Level 2

When you have achieved this qualification you will have demonstrated competence in:

  • Good practice in the workplace
  • Helping with classroom resources and records
  • Involvement with the care and support of pupils
  • Support for learning activities
  • Effective support for your colleagues
  • A good understanding of literacy and numeracy and provide support in the classroom

Level 3

When you have achieved this qualification you will have demonstrated competence in:

  • Good practice in the workplace
  • Contributing to the management of pupil behaviour
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with individual pupils
  • and groups
  • Supporting pupils during learning activities
  • Reviewing and developing own professional practice.

It is advisable to complete this qualification within a 12 month period.
