NVQ Teaching Assistants Level 2/Level 3

By working in schools you can gather evidence to show your performance and knowledge to gain a Level 2 / Level 3 qualification.

What is an NVQ?

NVQs are a work-based, nationally recognised qualification and by building a portfolio of evidence you will show that you meet the Level 2 or 3 national occupational standards.

Why do an NVQ?

To demonstrate your performance and knowledge needed for your job role and to develop your own skills and potential.

How you can do this.

  • An assessor will visit you in your workplace to advise you on how to demonstrate the performance and knowledge needed to meet the learning outcomes for a Level 2/3 qualification.
  • Level 2 is a 7 unit qualification.
  • Level 3 is a 10 unit qualification.
  • Some units from Level 2 can be transferred to Level 3 - refer to Qualification Framework.
  • You have to show you are working at the national occupational standards by building a Portfolio which is a collection of evidence demonstrating your performance and knowledge. Evidence needs to be easily identified and located.
  • Suggestions for reading books and websites are included in the Programme Handbook.
  • Contact details, Application form, School Registration form and Information for Employers can be down loaded from Information and Documents page.
  • Frequently Asked Questions.

There is no pass or fail for an N.V.Q. It is assessed on competence of performance and knowledge. If there is not enough evidence to support competency, your assessor will ask for more.
