The table above shows you the possessive pronouns in French. We use these when we want to say my house for example.
- Lets take the word book as an example.
- When you look the word book up in the dictionary you will see m next to the word livre. This means that the word is masculine.
- Now you want to say my book. Using the table above you can see that you have to use mon with a masculine noun.
- The finished result is mon livre = my book.
- Lets take the word car as an example.
- When you look the word car up in the dictionary you will see f next to the word voiture. This means that the word is feminine.
- Now you want to say my car. Using the table above you can see that you have to use ma with a feminine noun.
- The finished result is ma voiture = my car.
- Lets take the word chairs as an example.
- When you look the word chair up in the dictionary you will see the word chaise.
- You want to make chaise plural. Just add an s as you would in English so that you now have chaises.
- Now you want to say my chairs. Using the table above you can see that we have to use mes with a plural noun.
- The finished result is mes chaises = my chairs.
