NEW! African Djembe Drumming

The focus will be on developing your practical drumming skills in a fun and relaxed environment. No prior musical knowledge is required – just an interest in learning to play West African rhythms and drumming with others. If you have your own djembe drum please bring it to class. If you do not have your own drum one will be provided at a small cost at each class.

English Country Dancing; finding our heritage

Classes take place at Halton and Galgate. You will learn movements that make up the dances from our English heritage. Good exercise for posture and maintaining mobility, you do not need to join with a partner but be willing to dance in formation with other members of the group in pairs. Throughout the year there are occasional additional workshops for more experienced dancers.

Piano for Beginners and Returners

Learn how to play the piano through ‘hands on’ experience in an informal group. You will learn to read music, co-ordinate your hands and listen to yourself while you are playing. If you have some experience already you can improve and learn to play more expressively, develop your finger technique and sight reading. The course is run as a workshop.

Piano Advanced

You will gain the most from this course if you have achieved a playing standard in the range Grade 4 to Grade 8. The course will offer you help with technique – articulation and fingering, musicianship (phrasing and dynamics) and the development of your repertoire.

Music Theory

This workshop class covers the requirements for the Theory of Music for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music from grades 1 through to 8. Learn the basic rudiments of music through to composition and advanced music analysis.
