- An introduction to what we mean by society and consider the core elements which make up society.
- Assessment is by coursework and portfolio.
- Sociology OCNW Level 2 Stage A
- Sociology is about investigating society. Sociologists are interested in questions such as: Do individuals form society or does society form individuals? Sociologists may not have all the answers but trying to find them is both stimulating and challenging.
- Assessment is by coursework and portfolio.
- Sociology OCNW Level 3 Stage B
- Doing sociology has been described as a roller coaster ride it makes you see the world in an upside down sort of way. It challenges some of the traditional views of how the world works. By studying sociology, you may come to see the world in a different way.
- Assessment is by coursework and an end of year exam.
Qualification Descriptions
- OCNW Level 1/START
- courses are short introductory and specialist courses of up to 10 weeks duration.
- OCNW Level 2 Stage As
- are an equivalent level to GCSEs but are shorter in length. Assessment is by portfolio and written assessment.
- OCNW Level 3 Stage Bs
- are an equivalent to A2s (previously A Levels). Assessment is by written assignments, projects and end of year exams. Level 3 courses are intensive and demanding in terms of time, commitment and skills.
- Study Skills
- are an integral part of the access to HE programme. Classes and workshops are held throughout the year to help you with reading for your course, writing essays and preparing for tests and exams.
